In the past 30 years the ThinkPad DNA has not been changed and now Lenovo is going to completely revamp it with Z16. This larger 16-inch laptop has made a huge shift in ThinkPad’s overall design language. The ThinkPad Z16 has a square aluminum frame and a modern dark silver color, a departure from what we usually know about the design language of ThinkPad devices from the last 30 years.

The sides of the laptop are brushed, emphasizing the fact that the ThinkPad Z16 is a premium laptop. The top of the laptop has the usual ThinkPad branding and an inverted Z16-branded notch that houses the webcam and microphone. ThinkPad Z16 has been equipped with full-screen webcam with high definition resolution and f/2.0 aperture, a dual microphone array and an infrared sensor for facial recognition. With all this, ThinkPad Z16 can be termed as solid setup for video calling. It also features a unibody chassis with a very well equipped and integrated keyboard and trackpad. he exterior is dark gray, but the keyboard area is black and there are two front-facing speakers on the sides. The trackpad side has a three-part glass design. The touchpad has a larger surface and the physical buttons have been removed.

The touchpad is particularly awkward to use because it has no physical buttons. As for the keyboard, the ThinkPad Z16 keyboard has less key travel than the standard ThinkPad keyboard and feels like typing on a MacBook Pro keyboard. It looks similar to all keyboards, except that there is a fingerprint reader on the right between the control and arrow keys. The ThinkPad Z16 has a 16-inch WUXGA display with narrow bezels on all four sides and a maximum brightness of 400 nits. This is useful for multimedia work. Color accuracy is 91% of the sRGB color gamut and 71% of the AdobeRGB and DCI-P3 color gamut. The ThinkPad Z16 features the latest laptop internals. It has an AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 6850H processor, 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD and 16GB LPDDR5 RAM. The integrated Radeon 680M GPU takes precedence over Intel’s integrated Iris Xe graphics card. The ThinkPad Z16 has been equipped with a 72Wh battery and has a battery life of 7 hours and 5 minutes in the video cycle test. You can charge your laptop with the included 135W USB-C charger, but you can also use any USB charger with at least 60W.
